Philanthropy in Vietnam

This is Dung. He lives in Nha Trang on the South Central coast of Vietnam. He lives with his wife and son, and her mother. I met him the moment I arrived in the early evening. He had a friend at the only hotel in town, and got me a half-price discount. He was very kind and said he viewed me as his son, and wanted only to help me. I drank tea in his house and ate dinner with him on the floor. His father died in the past few months and he is still mourning by burning incense next to a picture of him. For money he sells lottery tickets issued by the government, but like most people makes only the minimum required to subsist. I left ten dollars for him at his house as a gift the morning I left. This will help if he wanted to splurge on something, or eat for the next two weeks.

This is his wife.
